Engineered Early Entry Diamond Saw Blades & Skid Plates

Cut contraction joints cleanly within the critical 1 to 4 hour window after finishing, before uncontrolled slab micro-cracking initiates.

Early entry cutting into green concrete presents distinct mechanical demands. Concrete in its plastic-to-curing phase is tender and chemically abrasive: aggregate is not yet fully bound by hydration, while loose silica slurry accelerates blade undercut and core erosion. Diamond Vantage manufactures early entry saw blades using Zenesis™ patterned diamond technology and application-matched metal matrices to prevent edge chipping, spalling, and joint raveling on high-spec commercial slabs, warehouse floors, and highway pavements.

Anti-Ravel Technology Formulated with proprietary bond resilience to produce crisp, square joint edges without tearing soft cement mortar.
Full Equipment Compatibility Available with standard EZ triangular arbors, 1" arbors, and 7/8"-5/8" bushings for Soff-Cut®, Gorilla Concrete Tools, and walk-behind saws.
Precision-Matched Skid Plates CNC-formed aluminum and heavy-gauge skid plates maintain uniform down-pressure directly adjacent to the blade kerf.

Color-Coded Bond Selection by Aggregate Hardness

For early entry cutting, bond choice is dictated primarily by the Mohs hardness of the local coarse aggregate. Using the correct bond prevents segment glazing on hard stone and stops premature wear on abrasive sands.

Z100 Purple Mohs 7-8

Ultra-Hard Aggregate

Engineered for dense flint, river gravel, quartzite, and chert. Soft bond release keeps sharp diamonds continuously exposed.

Equal to Soff-Cut® 1000
Z200 Green Mohs 6-7

Medium to Hard Aggregate

Tuned for hard chert, traprock, hard granite, and dense basalt where balanced speed and segment lifespan are required.

Equal to Soff-Cut® 2000
Z350 Orange Mohs 5-6

Medium Aggregate

Versatile medium bond matrix formulated for quartz, crushed stone, granitic gravel, and standard regional concrete mixes.

Equal to Soff-Cut® 3000 / 4000
Z550 Yellow Mohs 3-5

Abrasive Aggregate

Hard, abrasion-resistant bond designed for soft granite, limestone, abrasive sand, dolomite, and high-wear green matrices.

Equal to Soff-Cut® 5000 / 6000

Early Entry Cutting FAQ

Field-tested recommendations from our product application engineers to help contractors prevent joint raveling and optimize footage.

When should early entry cutting take place?

Early entry cutting must take place in the early hydration window—typically within 1 to 4 hours after final concrete floating and troweling. Cutting before the concrete can bear weight causes surface damage; waiting too long allows internal tensile forces to generate random stress cracks before joints are established.

Why is a fresh skid plate required with each blade change?

The skid plate acts as a pressure foot, holding aggregate down against the slab while the up-cutting blade breaks through the surface. Over the life of a blade, the skid plate slot widens due to abrasive slurry. Reusing a widened skid plate removes this structural support, resulting in joint spalling and edge raveling.

How do I avoid premature blade wear in green concrete?

Premature wear is almost always caused by using a bond that is too soft for abrasive sandy aggregates. If the concrete has a high sand content or soft limestone aggregate, switch to the Z550 Yellow formulation, which features a harder bond matrix designed to withstand abrasive green slurry.

Are these blades suitable for Soff-Cut® early entry saws?

Yes. All of our EZ-series green concrete blades incorporate the patented triangular arbor configuration engineered specifically for standard early entry saw models, accompanied by matched clip-on and fixed-pin skid plates.
